On Archival German Etching Paper
This is in memory of Sri Chinmoy (1931–2007). He was an Indian spiritual master who taught meditation in the West. Sri Chimnoy also held public events, including art exhibitions that explored the theme of inner peace and happiness through spiritual symbols such as birds.
In Persian culture, spiritual poets such as Hafez (1300s CE) and Saadi (1300s CE) wrote their lessons using birds and flowers as metaphors. This piece with the traditional Persian ‘Flower and Bird’ design also presents a verse from Hafez in Persian and a verse from Sri Chinmoy in English.
