From Ragged Power To Ritual Creation
Sara draws parallels between the death of the great Scythian king, wrapped in the oldest rug on earth, now ragged and frayed, and the driving force of her artistic practice – the paradox of creation and destruction.
Sara’s journey from the Iranian revolution, the long war, the control of women’s lives and migration has been an experience of loss and human sacrifice for power. Our history is full of extreme control rather than self-control of inner darkness. She pursues a way to cease being either in or under control by overcoming the inner victim. She takes her art as an inner practice of sacrificing her all-consuming fear of losing yet another precious artefact of her life, her artwork, and documenting her journey through to triumph.
Her work invites viewers to face their own inner darkness and to be the victors.
